What a cool idea! A crime-fighter who has the power of sight! And he wears a mask!

The Mask was the comic version of the Black Bat, who inspired characters like Dr. Mid-nite, Two-Face, the Silver-Age Dare-devil. Blinded by a gangster flinging some acid, a transplant operation leaves him able to see in the dark. He pretends to still be blind so that he can secretly fight crime as a masked vigilante. The name and look was changed in the comics because of DC's similarly named and attired Batman. Of course, that didn't keep DC from making use of things they liked from the Black Bat
